How SMS credits work

SMS in Kindly are billed using credits. The total cost of a reminder depends on three simple factors:

• Destination country: each country has a fixed credits per SMS value.

• Your plan: your plan determines the price per credit.

• Message length: longer messages can be billed as multiple SMS parts.

Credits per country

The number of credits per SMS depends on the recipient’s country. For the full and always up-to-date list, see the country table at the end.

Message length (160 character rule)

An SMS message is billed in parts. As a rule of thumb, up to 160 characters is billed as 1 SMS. If your message is longer than 160 characters, it is split into 2 or more parts, and each part consumes credits.

Don’t worry: your customer still receives one SMS message — it may simply be billed as multiple parts.

The price plans (and therefore the price per credit) can be managed under Kindly > Account.

Example calculation

Here’s a simple example:

• Destination: United States (1 credit per SMS)

• Price per credit (based on your plan): $0.023

• Message length: 170 characters → billed as 2 SMS parts

Total cost: 1 credit × $0.023 × 2 parts = $0.046 per reminder
